All homes are prone to flooding, no matter where you live or how old the house is. According to the 2003 Insurance Research Council, 96% of property claims are caused by water related incidents such as plumbing leaks, rain and flooding, sewers and sump pumps. If water leaks aren't detected fast enough, water leaks can be costly. Because they alert you to a small leak, flood sensors are the perfect solution to prevent major water damage.
You can either use a flood sensor as a standalone or as part of an existing security system. If you have remote access setup, you can receive immediate alerts to your phone when water levels become alarming. In order to minimize water damage, some sensors may even allow you to shut off designated valves in the case of an emergency.
Since the flood sensor will alert you about unexpected water levels, it makes sense to install it in an area susceptible to major leaks – near a water line. The best locations include the basement, under sinks, and behind washing machines.

Heat detectors can sound off an alarm either when the ambient temperature reaches a predetermined level (e.g., 135°F ) or when heat rises at a greater rate than normal (15°F per minute). They work best when placed in areas where smoke detectors are not recommended, such as the kitchen, the garage, and the attic.
Heat detectors are meant to complement your smoke detectors, not replace them. The heat detector will alert you, even in the absence of smoke and fire, when potentially dangerous temperature changes happen. Honeywell's 5809 heat detector is a wireless fixed heat and rate-of-rise temperature sensor that is fast and easy to install. It contains a built-in transmitter that sends an alarm message to the system's control unit.
Carbon Monoxide Detector
As you may know, carbon monoxide (CO) is a tasteless, colorless, odorless, and highly toxic gas that is harmful when inhaled. When wood, gasoline, charcoal, and oil are burned with insufficient air, CO is produced. Without warning, large amounts of CO can overcome a person in minutes causing them to lose consciousness and suffocate. Most house and business CO poisoning fatalities are due to fuels from charcoal grills, engine powered tools, and heating systems.
Carbon monoxide detectors are designed to warn you well before CO reaches a fatal level. Detectors like the Honeywell 5800CO consist of an electrochemical carbon monoxide sensor with a wireless transmitter. This makes the detector ideal for hard to wire locations while enabling it to send an alarm signal to the security keypad.
